The biggest tie-up of most child-bearing IENs is family life. Somehow family life is taken in to consideration in making decisions relating to their RN applications. Family should not be a setback of professional growth but rather a precious, fragile diadem you wear as you work for your dreams to frutition. It takes a lot of effort to go about family life and requires a lot of teamwork. Sometimes it takes an entire village to raise a child which is somewhat true in our tight knit culture of Filipino communities living abroad.

Pinoy IEN: Girl tell us your background.
Deanne: Hello! I'm Manitoba-based mother with twins and a wife to an ever supportive husband! I'm currently on my second semester in the RN Reentry Program in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Pinoy IEN: Kapatid how do you juggle everything all at the same time. Naku ang hirap!
Deanne: I am very indeed thankful that the theoretical courses are done online! Dahil jan marami akong magagawa for my family especially to my twins.
Pinoy IEN: Do you have to hustle to contribute to the family income or si hubby lang nag wowork?
Deanne: I hustle for us to have enough funds at this time. Pero sa totoo there are times that I have to breakdown and cry because the demand of doing everything all at the same time is sometimes too much to bear.
Pinoy IEN: So anu role ni hubby?
Deanne: Naku! Salitan kami ng role.
Pinoy IEN: Ganun nga! Unless nasa Canada parents nyo it would be much easier (to manage).

Deanne: Oo nga. So what my hubby and I did, during the day nagddaycare ang kambal while my hubby and I are at work. Then we pick them up after. While nag pprepare ako sa mga kelangan namin for the next day si hubby naman nag aalaga sa mga bata.
Pinoy IEN: I'm pretty sure you cook?
Deanne: Oo naman! I cook in advance that is good for the next couple of days at nilalagay ko sa freezer.

Pinoy IEN: Team effort talaga kapatid. Also, kelangan talaga kumita!
Deanne: Of course! Kaya laking pasalamat din sa Canada for the child benefits.
Pinoy IEN: Tama. It somehow provides a financial safety cushion to get by.

Deanne: It is. Also indi po namin kaya if wala talagang communication and teamwork.
Pinoy IEN: Please send our congratulations to your hubby and the twins for a great teamwork!
George Shinn said, "There is no such thing as a self-made man or woman. You will reach your goals with the support and the help of others around you." Teamwork should be imbibed within every nurse. Nursing is teamwork. Your family is your living trophies and they should be your motivation to provide a more comfortable life in the future. The right planning, the right teamwork are the right tools to reach your goal.
